In Cook-Off Chaos, players immerse themselves in the bustling atmosphere of a kitchen as they compete to be the first to serve three mouthwatering dishes. Players select a character card representing a chef with a unique specialty and players take turns to draw player cards, roll the dice to move around the board and attack or defend themselves from other players’ attacks. Throughout their turns and amidst the chaos, players have to collect ingredients, cook dishes and serve them to win the game!
Cook-Off Chaos is a three-person semester long project where we designed our own board game from scratch. It was an iterative process of user testing and incorporating new game elements or removing based on the user feedback. My role consisted of designing all the visual aspects, such as the board, cards, character pieces, etc.

Learning Outcomes
- Playtesting goes a long way! It's important to gather feedback from players to create a fun experience.
- Rules are crucial to a game, but creating a concise, understandable rulebook is a long process that also needs a lot of player feedback.
- Iterating through multiple designs-- from the box, to cards, to the board. Design is an ongoing process.
